DAMIANA (Turnera diffusa)
Damiana is a staple in our blends. It helps makes our smokes smoother since it retains much of its oil content once dried. Damiana has earned itself the reputation as an aphrodisiac as it stimulates blood flow to the periphery of the body. It's also a nervine, which means that it calms nervous tension.
MARSHMALLOW LEAF (Althaea officinalis)
Marshmallow leaf is cooling, moistening, and makes a great, flavor-neutral addition to our smoking blends as it helps to counteract the hot and dry nature of smoking. Fun fact: marshmallows were originally made with marshmallow root!
MULLEIN LEAF (Verbascum thapsus)
Anytime you smoke something, there should be mullein in it! The act of smoking is drying and heating, whereas mullein is a cooling herb that helps to bring moisture to the lungs. Mullein is also expectorant, which means that it helps to clear any crud stuck in the lungs and can be very helpful for those with deep, wet coughs. Mullein was first recommended by Dioscorides (ancient Greek author of De Materia Medica —a 5-volume encyclopedia about herbal medicine) two-thousand years ago to combat lung diseases, and it is still worked with for that to this day.
LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis)
Lemon balm retains much of its oil content once dried which makes for a smoother smoke. Also known as melissa, lemon balm is gently calming and uplifting, especially for those who struggle during the dark, winter months.
WOOD BETONY (Stachys officinalis)
Wood betony is great at getting you out of your head and feeling more at home in your body. This grounding action is why we include wood betony in all of our smoking blends.
CATNIP (Nepeta cataria)
It’s not just for cats! Catnip is a plant in the mint family and is a nervine, which means that it helps in calming nervous tension and is nourishing to the nerves. Catnip has a particular affinity for pain or anxiety that rises upward from the stomach. If you’re the type of person who internalizes your stress and feels anxiety rising in your chest, catnip can be an excellent herbal ally. We put catnip in all of our smoking blends for this reason.
PENNYROYAL (Mentha pulegium)

Pennyroyal is in the mint family. It is slightly warming and can help ease anxiousness. It’s also slightly stimulating. We put the equivalent of a pinch in our smoking blends, and remove it from our Sleepy Smokes.
SKULLCAP (Scutellaria lateriflora)
A mind of racing thoughts can be slowed with the help of skullcap. Skullcap is a relaxant herb that helps to release muscle tension and is especially helpful for those with nervous exhaustion that can manifest as agitation. It’s called skullcap because part of the flowers have been said to look like “miniature medieval helmets.”
PEPPERMINT (Mentha x piperita)
Peppermint is a stimulating relaxant, meaning it helps you feel mentally sharp and focused but physically at ease. It’s also a fantastic flavor that makes for a lovely, cooling, minty smoke that you can find in our Stimulating Smokes.
LAVENDER (Lavandula angustifolia)
Lavender flowers are known for their calming scent. Lavender is included in our Sleepy Smokes to envelop oneself in a plume of this pleasant aroma as you get ready for bed.
MUGWORT (Artemesia vulgaris)
Mugwort helps with dreaming, especially dream recall and lucid dreaming. Mugwort is often worked with in the evening for this reason, and is why we include it in our Sleepy Smokes.
PASSIONFLOWER (Passiflora incarnata)
Passionflower is included in our Sleepy Smokes as it is a gentle sedative and is fantastic at quelling circular thoughts that can often keep us up at night.
